On February 19, 2019, a signing ceremony of FAO Country Programming Framework between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was held at Kempinski Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.
U Set Aung, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance, Dr. Mya Lay Sein, Deputy Minister for Health and Sports, U Aung Htoo, Deputy Minister for Commerce, U Soe Aung, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ms.Kundhavi Kadiresan, Assistant Director- General and Regional Representative of FAO for Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Knut Ostby, UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Xiaojie Fan, FAO Representative, Mr. Domenico Scalpelli, WFP Representative, Directors General, Deputy Directors General, officials from Ministries concerned and FAO team attended the signing ceremony.
At the ceremony, FAO Country Programming Framework was signed by U Than Aung Kyaw, Director General of Foreign Economic Relations Department, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Ms. Xiaojie Fan, FAO Representative in Myanmar, on behalf of FAO.
FAO Country Programming Framework will be implemented in collaboration with ministries concerned to achieve the enchanced food security and food safety and nutrition, strengthened governance and sustainable management of land, forest, water, resources and ecosystems, enhanced resilience of local communities and farming households to disasters, climate change, transboundary and emerging infectious diseases. The estimated budget for Country Programming Framework is US$ 71.75 million.
