Public-Private Dialogue for the implementation of Regional Comprehensive Partnership (RCEP) Agreement was virtually commenced in collaboration with the Foreign Economic Relations Department under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) on 23 December, 2020.
U Than Aung Kyaw, Director General for Foreign Economic Relations Department and the representatives from the concerned Ministries, president U Zaw Min Win, vice presidents U Thaung Tin and Dr. Maung Maung Lay, Secretary General U Aye Win, CEC members and representatives from UMFCCI and its affiliated associations, and members from states and regions of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry participated at the dialogue.
At the dialogue, president U Zaw Win Min made the welcoming remarks and Director General explained the salient points of RCEP Agreement including special and differential treatment, the level of tariff liberalization among RCEP member countries and the opportunities for businesses, the provision of the entry into force and review process, transition period to implement the agreement, and the implementation program for Public and Private Sectors.
Then, Director General responded the queries and comments of the participants. The Vice President Dr. Maung Maung Lay made the closing remarks.
The series of this public- private dialogue for the implementation of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership will be continued until the end of January 2021.
